Frequently asked questions

It bundles six date tools into one app: exact age between two dates, an age difference comparison between two people, a face age estimate from a photo, a leap year checker, a date add and subtract calculator, and a reminder list for birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates. Each tool has its own screen, reachable from the home grid or the Tools tab.

The app is free to download and every feature is available without payment. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription tier and no locked "pro" tools in the current release.

The app targets modern Android releases and supports a wide range of devices. If Google Play says the app is incompatible with your device, that usually means your Android version is older than the minimum supported, or the device lacks a feature the app needs. The exact minimum is shown on the Google Play listing under "About this app".

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. Open the app and start calculating. This is deliberate: without an account there is no server-side copy of your data to protect or lose.

Yes. Age calculation, age difference, leap year checks, date add and subtract, saved dates and reminders all work fully offline. A connection is only used to send optional diagnostic reports and to receive occasional service notices.

Age Calculator is currently an Android application. Apps Bean Technologies builds for iOS and the web as well, so other platforms may follow. Write to info@appsbean.com if you would like to be told when one ships.

Yes. Tap Skip at the top of any onboarding screen and you go straight to the home screen. The introduction only appears on first launch.

It is com.appsbean.agecalculator. Use this to verify you are installing the genuine app, especially if you arrive at a listing through a link rather than a Play Store search.

The app compares the two calendar dates rather than dividing a number of days by 365. It counts complete years first, then complete months, then the remaining days, using the real length of each month and accounting for leap days. This is the same method used by official forms that ask for "age completed".

Because "how old am I" and "how old was I on that day" are different questions. The second field, labelled "Calculate until", defaults to today but can be set to any past or future date. School admissions, sports categories, pension eligibility and visa forms often need your age as of a specific cut-off date.

The result card shows two different things. The headline is years, months and days — for example 11 years, 5 months, 5 days. The metric grid shows lifetime totals, so the same person is 137 total months old. Both are correct; one is a breakdown, the other is a cumulative count.

Yes. Set the birth date as the first date and the date of death as the "Calculate until" date. The result gives the exact age reached, which is often needed for records and memorial notices.

The date picker covers a very wide range, well beyond a normal human lifespan, so historical dates work fine. Bear in mind that the app applies Gregorian calendar rules throughout. Dates before the Gregorian reform of 1582 — and before its adoption in a given country, which varied by decades — may not match a historical record kept in the Julian calendar.

Calculations use your device's local calendar date. Age is a calendar concept rather than a timestamp, so a time zone change does not alter your age in years, months and days. Second-level totals may shift slightly if you travel across zones, which is expected.

Yes. Settings → Date & time lets you choose the display format. The default is dd MMM yyyy, which shows 26 Feb 2015 and avoids the day/month ordering confusion that plagues purely numeric formats.

Settings → Age calculation controls which totals appear in results — years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds. If you only ever need years and days, turn the rest off and the result card gets shorter.

Yes. Set "Calculate until" to a date in the future to see how old someone will be then. This is useful for checking whether a child will meet an age requirement by an enrolment deadline.

A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except that years divisible by 100 are not, unless they are also divisible by 400. So 2024 is a leap year, 1900 was not, and 2000 was. The leap year tool shows which branch of the rule applied to the year you entered.

You decide. Settings → Age calculation includes a leap-day birthday rule that lets you treat a 29 February birthday as falling on 28 February or on 1 March during non-leap years. Both conventions are used in different countries, so the app does not pick for you. In actual leap years the reminder fires on 29 February either way.

It can shift the result by a single day in non-leap years, because it defines when a full year is considered complete. It never changes the year count itself.

Because the follow-up question is almost always "then when is the next one". The tool lists the closest leap years before and after your query so you do not have to check them one at a time.

No. Face analysis runs on your device. The image is not sent to Apps Bean Technologies or to any third party for processing, and the app does not keep a copy after producing the estimate.

Treat it as entertainment. Apparent age is affected by lighting, camera angle, expression, make-up, glasses, facial hair, hairstyle, image resolution and compression. A good photo can land close to the real age; a poor one can be a decade out. The app labels this clearly on screen for a reason.

No, and please don't. The feature is not designed or validated for identity checks, access control, employment screening, insurance, medical or legal decisions. It produces an approximate impression, not evidence.

No. It estimates an apparent age from a single image. It does not build a face template, does not match faces against any database, and has no way to identify anyone.

Face the camera straight on, use even front lighting, fill more of the frame with your face, remove sunglasses or a hat, and avoid heavy backlight. If the photo has several faces, the app may struggle to choose one — crop to a single face and try again.

Never. The shared image contains the numbers and labels only. Your photo is not embedded in it.

Technically yes, but you should get that person's permission first. You are responsible for any image you supply, and we ask that you do not analyse photos of children.

Only the Face Age Detector stops working. Every other tool continues normally. You can grant the permission later from Android Settings → Apps → Age Calculator → Permissions.

Tap the plus button in the bottom bar, or go to the Family tab and choose "Add important date". Enter a name, pick the date, choose Birthday, Anniversary or Other, and optionally add a relationship and a note. Leave "Enable reminder" on and save.

Yes. Birthdays and anniversaries are annual by nature, so once saved they reschedule themselves each year without further action.

Yes, in two places. Settings → Reminder defaults sets the time used for new entries, 09:00 out of the box. Each saved entry also has its own reminder time you can override when adding or editing it.

Ringtone plays your notification tone at full length so it is hard to miss. Beep is a short alert sound. Vibration is silent and only buzzes the device. Choose per entry, so a close family member can be a ringtone while a work anniversary is a quiet vibration.

Work through these in order: confirm notification permission is granted; grant exact alarm access if your Android version asks for it; exclude Age Calculator from battery optimisation or "restricted" background use, which is the most common cause on Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus devices; check that Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode was not active; and confirm the entry still shows "Reminder enabled". Settings → Notification access walks through each step for your device.

Yes. The app re-registers your scheduled reminders when the device finishes booting, which is what the boot permission is for. If you force-stop the app manually, open it once afterwards so alarms can be rescheduled.

The reminder fires on the day itself. The Friends & Family list also shows a live countdown next to each entry — "17 days" — so opening the app gives you advance warning. Advance-notice reminders are on our list of requested features.

There is no fixed limit in the app. Practical limits come from your device storage and from Android's own cap on how many exact alarms an app may schedule, which is generous for normal use.

Not in this release. The app deliberately does not request contacts or calendar permission, so dates are entered manually. This keeps the permission list short and the data footprint small.

The Family tab has a search field and filter chips for All, Birthday, Anniversary and Other. Search matches names, so typing a few letters is usually enough.

Yes. Edit the entry and switch "Enable reminder" off. The date stays in your list with its countdown, but no notification is scheduled.

No, names are optional. They only make the result easier to read, since the card can then say which named person is older instead of "Person 1" and "Person 2".

No. The tool sorts the two dates itself and labels them Older and Younger in the result, so the order you type them in does not change the answer.

The result clamps to the last valid day of the target month, so you get 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. This matches how most calendar systems and contract terms treat month arithmetic.

Not currently. Date add and subtract works in calendar days, weeks, months and years. Business-day counting with configurable weekends and holidays is a feature request we have noted.

Recent results with the dates that produced them, stored locally. Automatic saving is a toggle in Settings → Calculation preferences, so you can turn it off entirely, and the list can be cleared at any time.

A generated image with the result numbers and labels. Settings → Sharing & export controls the image format and how much detail is included. Photos are never part of it. Once you send the image, it is governed by whichever app you sent it through.

Settings → Appearance offers System theme, which follows your Android setting, as well as fixed light and dark options.

In the app's private storage area on your device. Saved dates, notes, preferences and history never leave the phone, and we have no way to read them remotely.

No. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for behavioural advertising. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

Firebase provides crash reporting, anonymous usage analytics and a push inbox for occasional service notices. It tells us that a screen crashed on a particular device model — not what dates you entered.

Delete entries individually in the app, clear history from Settings, or wipe everything at once via Android Settings → Apps → Age Calculator → Storage → Clear data. Uninstalling removes all locally stored information.

Only if Android's own backup service restored them as part of a device restore. Because there is no account and no cloud sync, the app itself keeps no copy. If your saved dates matter to you, write the important ones down elsewhere as well.

The current release has no third-party advertising and no advertising identifiers used for targeting. If that ever changes, the privacy policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated before the release ships.

It is a general-audience utility, not a children's app, and it is not directed to children under 13. Parents commonly use it to record a child's birthday or check a school-admission age; that information is entered by the parent and stays on the parent's device.

Update to the latest version from Google Play, restart the device, and make sure there is free storage available. If it persists, email info@appsbean.com with your device model, Android version, app version and the screen where it happens. Crash reports usually reach us automatically, but your description tells us how to reproduce it.

Send us the two exact dates you entered, the result you saw, the result you expected, and your date format setting. Date bugs are almost always reproducible from those four pieces of information, and we take them seriously.

Check that the date is inside the allowed range for that field. The age calculator will not accept a birth date later than the end date, and the end date cannot precede the birth date. Adjust one field and the other becomes selectable.

The current release is in English. Apps Bean Technologies builds Bengali-language software regularly, and localisation is planned. Tell us which language you need and it helps us prioritise.
